Frequently asked questions

Is my business eligible for invoice finance?

If you can answer yes to the following questions, then please get in touch with us to discuss next steps:

  • Is your business incorporated in England or Wales?
  • Do you sell to other businesses and invoice your customers on credit terms for goods or services you’ve provided?
  • Is your business’s annual turnover at least £500,000 (or projected to be for new-start businesses)?

We can provide invoice finance to businesses across a wide variety of industries and sectors; if you would like to speak to a member of the team about your requirements then please click here for our contact details.

How much can I borrow with FlexABL?

Our facilities typically start at £100,000 and up to £750,000, always linked to value of your eligible and unpaid invoices.

How will FlexABL charge for a facility?

We will always be transparent and up front about what a facility with us will cost you. However, there is no one-size-fits-all pricing structure, as every business is different, but hopefully the following guidelines will help.

There are 3 main charges that you need to be aware of:

  • A service charge. Typically this is a percentage of your turnover, so the value of invoices assigned to us, it typically ranges between 0.25% to 1.5%, depending on your annual sales and the size of any facility with us. It can be fixed monthly, where say you want to borrow a smaller percentage of your outstanding book debts.
  • Discount Charge. This tends to range from 3% to 4% above the bank base rate, calculated and charged daily, in arrears, on the amount you borrow. Again the rate is linked to your needs, facility wise and the financial standing of your Company.
  • Additional Fees, for example tend to include arrangement fees, usually 0.25% to 0.5%, charged at the outset and annually thereafter, whilst the facility is in place. Same day payment fees when you wish to draw funds, the same day as any upload, but these can be via Bacs as well. We do have bank account and IT fees but any additional fees will be outlined clearly in your agreement and discussed with you before you start.

Do I need to give personal security?

As is usual with invoice finance agreements, we will normally ask for some form of limited personal guarantee or warranty from the directors of the business. The level of this personal commitment will depend upon a variety of factors, which are linked to the financial standing of your venture and any risk profile we might assign to certain sectors, for example and we will discuss with you, in detail, as part of the application process.

How quickly can my facility be set up?

The simple answer is as quickly as you want it to be, subject to us having all the financial information that we require in order to approve your facility. Normally, the approval and onboarding process will take between 2 and 4 weeks, but we can act more quickly, should you need us to.

Because you will always have access to a decision-maker, and through the use of easy-to-use technology, we can speed up the whole application process. Wherever possible, we will provide a decision in principle within 24 hours of receiving a complete proposal and supporting information. We will then work to your timescales, depending on how quickly you need us to turn your outstanding invoices into cash.

The quickest way to set up a facility with us is through a connection with your accounting package. Our automated process will provide a more flexible, responsive application experience which will eliminate much of the administrative work involved in running an invoice finance facility. To find out more, go to our How It Works page.

Our facility agreements are sent and signed via an online e-signature service – secure, swift and stress free.

What information will I need to provide?

In order to be able to provide a formal offer of terms to you, we will usually ask for the following information:

  • Identity documents for the directors and beneficial owners of the business via a completed proposal form.
  • A copy of your detailed Aged Debtor and Creditor Reports, along with supporting information as required, in relation to these.
  • Your last set of filed financial accounts, in full and any management accounts prepared, since that date, where applicable.

We are likely to ask you for other information specific to your needs and business, but we can confirm that to you as we progress.

Will my customers know I have an invoice finance facility?

There can be benefits to disclosing your facility to your customers, allowing us to provide a greater level of funding potentially and to help you with any sales ledger issues, that need resolving, to get paid on time. We don’t tend to get involved in your credit control procedures, unless you ask us to.

However, we also offer confidential facilities, where your customers will not be aware of our involvement. We would still require validation of invoicing on an ad hoc basis, but we will discuss this with you, at the outset and ongoing, so we retain the element of confidentiality, at all times.

Do my customers have to pay to FlexABL’s bank account?

Yes, customers you assign to us will need to make payments directly to our bank account. However, we hold individual trust accounts for each of our clients, so payments can be posted to your facility quickly and accurately. These trust accounts are held in your business name, with us, to provide further reassurance and unlike many other providers, who will assign you to their general trust account, for all clients.

Can I view my borrowing level and account details at any time?

You will have (*close to) 24-hour access to our online system via PC, laptop or mobile device and as we operate a real-time system, you can be sure that your account will always show the most up-to-date position. * the software system updates each night limiting access, for a short period.

How do I make a complaint?

We may not always get it right 100% of the time, and we always welcome your feedback, good or bad and we have never lost a client for poor service reasons over many, many years.

Should you have a reason to complain, at any point, we would like to think this can be resolved quickly and to your complete satisfaction, directly with your Relationship Manager. However if you are still not happy then please email us at [email protected] and a Director will contact you at the very earliest opportunity to discuss your situation.
